Normally i laugh at replica car owners and mock them because they are poor people that want to look rich without the effort of working hard, earn money and save up for the real thing. But this one’s a little different. Ten years ago Ken Imhoff started building a Lamborghini Countach in his basement. Ken’s basement has no outside access. He hired a contractor to dig down to basement level, tear down a basement wall, and pull the Countach out.
10 years of hard working, creating a very nice Countach replica deserves some credit: Well Done Ken!

A couple of days ago i met somebody who had been selling fake RayBan sunglasses for quite a while. He claimed that fake Raybans were made in the same factory as the real one. I laughed at him in his face ofcourse, knowing that this is an ‘excuse’ a lot of sellers of fake products use to ease the minds of their buyers. His girlfriend had one of these fake Raybans and luckily my girlfriend had her real one (bought at Bloomingdale’s SoHo NYC) so i could show him that the fake ones could in no way be produced in the same factory as the real Ray Bans… Quickly he stated that he meant that they come from the same region. This is also untrue. Real Ray bans are manufactured in Italy. The fake ones are made in china, and there’s printed ‘Made in the USA’ on them’, which is untrue… no Rayban has been manufactured in the USA for ages…

“Poland’s Veno Automotive has released images of its yet-to-be-named supercar, but it may as well be called the Lamborghini Reventon II. Veno claims that its supercar has a unique design and – surprise, surprise – was inspired by fighter jets, just as the Reventon was”

The Chinese Shuanghuan CEO that has a similar appearance to a model made by Germany’s BMW must halt all sales and destroy all its vehicles in Germany, a court in Munich ruled. The court ordered the importers, China Automobile, to pay compensatory damages to BMW, which is based in Munich. BMW alleges that the Shuanghuan CEO closely resembles its X5.
“We are pleased that the court has agreed with our views,” a BMW spokesman said after the ruling.
Karl Schloessl of China Automobile Germany said he would launch an appeal against the ruling, which is not yet binding, saying he was prepared to take the case to the European Court of Justice. It was impossible to ban a vehicle in Germany that was allowed to be on the road in the rest of Europe, Schloessl said, adding that there were more than 1,000 Shuanghuan CEOs on the road in Italy.
He added that the ruling was based on similarities to the BMW X5 dating back to 1998, describing it as “a very old car.” Schloessl said the appearance of the vehicle could easily be altered by changing “five or six elements.” BMW has not made clear whether it will seek the compensatory damages awarded by the court. In the face of protests from German manufacturers, Shuanghuan withdrew its CEO from the Frankfurt IAA international motor show held in September last year.
While on a visit to China in August last year, Chancellor Angela Merkel criticized Chinese carmakers for blatant copies of German makes. Apart from the CEO, Shuanghuan has drawn criticism for its Nobel, which bears a resemblance to Daimler’s Smart, an ultra-compact two-seater.

Aah, the wornderfull world of Famiclones. For more than 20 years, millions of weird looking Nintendo NES clones have spread all over the world ofcourse originating from China. They all have one thing in common: they’re all based on the Nintendo 8-bit NES chip. A lot of famiclones (The first Nintendo console - released in Japan - was called the FAMICOM, which is short for Family Computer, hence the name Famiclone) also have built-in games which are blatant copies of, or really weird adoptions of, 8-bit NES games.
Back in the ’80s Russia didn’t get an official release of the famicom or NES and famiclones named ‘Dendy’ were the consoles the kids played with. There were even official Dendy stores selling their communist pirated wares.
Famiclones used to look like a NES or a Super Nes. Nowadays, although they still play those crappy 8-bit games, they often look like playstations and x-boxes.
It’s an intrueging sub-culture in the world of video-gaming industry….

If you’re gonna make the effort in copying a product, why not go all the way? I’m sure that these odd fakes infringe a copyright as well, so why not put the ‘real’ logo on it?
I can’t imagine someone buying a ‘Abcids’ bag in the hope people with very bad eyesight will think it’s a Adidas bag….
